I promised my 10-year-old daughter, Teagan, that her bedroom would be the first room we'd decorate when we moved into our new house. We came up with a vision board which ended up changing slightly along the way. I like to make my vision boards on Canva or Photoshop.

The before was as plain and unorganized as can be!

The first step to get the ball rolling was ordering the wallpaper! We wanted something floral and colorful, but not too childish, because she is entering the teenager stage very soon!

We were going to do board and batten and paint it blue or green, but then I had the idea to do wainscoting, which I felt was a little bit more elevated and feminine for her bedroom. And after talking about paint colors with a friend, we decided to just stay with white since there were so many colors coming from the wallpaper!

The biggest task in this bedroom makeover was building the desk! She needed a little bit more storage for clothes, and we wanted to add shelves for cute decor and books. I bought the 2 sets of drawers from Ikea, and built the red oak desktop and bookshelf to go on top.

I absolutely love natural daylight that comes into the home. With basements, it's a little difficult to make that happen. One- because the windows are basically in the ground with this window well blocking so much light. And two- the window wells are so ugly that you want to cover it up! So I had the genius idea to buy this pretty window film that covers the ugliness, but still lets in the daylight. And the added bonus of privacy too!

Nightstand, Lamp is old from Ashley's Furniture

This floor-to-ceiling lamp is from my grandma's house. The lampshade was too destroyed to save, so I found these pretty lightbulbs instead!
